From Principal's Desk

      Government College of Engineering, Karad established in 1960 has blossomed into a major education centre essentially due to the combined efforts of a very dedicated team of staff and students who are committed to the overall development of institute. Amidst the serene atmosphere of 40 Acres of environment friendly campus; all the facilities for education, extra curricular and sports activities are available to the students. The institute has produced outstanding engineers, who have successfully proved their professional competence in their respective disciplines. The institute lays special emphasis on human values, ethics, apart from academic excellence. Karad is also a culturally vibrant town and boasts of being a major center of education in Western Maharashtra.
     The institute offers Undergraduate Programs in Five disciplines (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Information Technology and Electronics & Telecommunication) and Postgraduate Programs in Five areas of specialization (Structural Engineering and Construction Management in Civil Engineering, Heat Power and Production in Mechanical Engineering and Power System in Electrical Engineering) besides the MCA course.

    The Postgraduate courses receive financial support from AICTE. All the courses are recognized by AICTE and Government of Maharashtra and are affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The institute also has an independent Training & Placement Cell, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Gymkhana and NSS cell.
     The institute has received substantial grants from AICTE, New Delhi under MODROB, TAPTEC and IIPC schemes over the last 10 years. All the departments are equipped with excellent laboratory facilities. The Central library has over 58525 text / reference books in almost all the disciplines of engineering. Besides, every department has its own departmental library, maintained exclusively by students through their respective associations. "Aavishkar", a National level paper presentation competition, which is completely managed by students, showcases the managerial and technical skills of the students. In addition, the students have brought laurels to the institute by bagging several awards in technical meets and sports competition.
     To conclude, I would like to reiterate that, We at Government College of Engineering, Karad, are committed to produce outstanding engineers, with sound theoretical and practical knowledge, exposure to industry and respect for human values.
