Principal Co-ordinator:-Prof.S.H.Pawar
The objectives / aims of project :-
New Experiments to be conducted:-
To find the parameters of transmission lines
To determine the performance of transmission line for different loading conditions.
To determine the stability limits of transmission lines for different VAR supports.
To find the effect of addition of shunt reactor, shunt capacitor & series reactor in the transmission line circuit on its operation.
To find performance of Generator / Transformer / Feeder & Motor under different types of faults and to suggest the appropriate protective relays for these faults.
Increase in scope of old experiments conducted:-
The old experiments such as 'study 'type now can be performed by actually conducting the tests and simulation.
Latest development in Technology to be demonstrated to student:-
The latest trends of operating the transmission lines with the application of appropriate VAR support are studied and are confirmed with the results obtained.
Also the various units such as motor, generator, and feeder are subjected to actual faults and their protection systems are verified & tested.

Heat Transfer Augmentation of a solar air heater by using turbulant promoting metal grits on collector surface
Title of the project: - "Heat Transfer Augmentation of a solar air heater by using turbulant promoting metal grits on collector surface"
Grants-in-aids received: - Rs. 6.5 Lacs
Principal Investigator: - Prof. S.V.Karamare
Year of sanction: - 2006-07
Duration of Project:- 2 Years
Objectives / aims of project:-
Flat Plate solar air collectors are mechanically simpler and cheaper. This gives a low thermal efficiency. The use of artificial roughness on a surface is an effective technique to enhance the rate of heat transfer. Howewer,it would result it an increase in frictional losses. In order to keep the friction losses at a minimum level, the turbulence must be created only in laminar sub layer.
It is proposed that the top wall is made rough with metal grits.Experimental investigation will be performed in two parts. First part is indoor test in the laboratory to genetrate data for finding out correlations for Nusselt number and friction factor. Second part is outdoor test to evaluate the thermal performance of the air heater in the field under the actual solar isolation. This research will be also present the thermohydraulic performance.
